The Annals of Innisfallen
The Bodleian Library in Oxford University very kindly afforded me the opportunity of a private viewing of the Annals Of Inisfallen.
The Annals of Inisfallen were written by the monks of Innisfallen Island in Lough Leane in Killarney National Park, from the 3rd to the 14th century. I was delighted to take up this fantastic opportunity in Oxford University in the UK.
The purpose of the viewing was to research the colour palette, tonal range and density of the works that was used by the monks at that time.
This viewing will inform my project “Islands” going forward as I wish to use the visual information gained as a guide for the design editing and print output of my photographic artworks for this project.
For anyone that is interested at looking at a copy of the Annals, There is a full digital version online.
